TU FUTURO SCHOLARSHIP RULES
2026 – 2030 Scholarship
Purpose: Univision Contigo Houston and University of Houston Downtown (the “University”) “Tu Futuro” Scholarship is designed to motivate Latino youth in the Houston area to pursue higher education.
Eligibility: The scholarships are open to high school students who meet all the following criteria:
1) Reside in the Houston DMA and surrounding counties that receive the Univision signal and are US legal citizens.
2) Are enrolled as a 12th grade student with sufficient credits to graduate in the Spring term of 2026.
3) Have an outstanding reputation and be in good standing in school and in the surrounding community
4) Communicate in English; Bilingual encouraged (Spanish/English)
5) Have a Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
6) Must meet the University (UHD) entrance criteria for admissions.
7) Must apply for admission at the University (UHD) using the Apply Texas Application
8) Submit a completed FAFSA (or TASFA if applicable) for the academic year; scholarship will be packaged with eligible federal and state aid
9) Are not employees or agents and are not immediate family of and do not reside in the same household of, employees or agents of (a) Univision, its parent company or its affiliates; (b) any participating sponsors or their respective parents or affiliates; and (c) persons who are engaged in the development, production, distribution of materials, or drawing of scholarship recipients for this scholarship.
How to Apply: A student must submit a complete application package via the official contest landing page. The application package must contain the following:
1) A complete and legible Scholarship Application
2) Copy of these Rules signed by the student and his/her parent (if the student is a minor)
3) One (1) photograph of the student
4) Answers to the questions provided in the application form.
5) Submit a 500 Essay on: “How A College Scholarship Will Help Me Positively Impact My Community.” The essay must be double spaced.
6) Read information for students interested in attending UHD.
7) Apply for admission to the University (UHD) using the form at ApplyTexas.org.
Application Timeline: Applications can be submitted from November 17, 2025 through February 27, 2026.
Selection: In March 2026, the University will review complete application packages received. Recipient will be selected on or around Mid-April. Assuming the University Univision receives sufficient eligible applicants and complete application packages, Univision, The University, and the scholarship sponsors will select Two (2) applicants from the eligible essay applicants. The scholarship winner may be notified using contact information provided or collected in the application process. The selection decisions shall be final and binding in all respects.
Award: Two (2) four (4) year scholarships valued at approximately $39,000 each, to be awarded in annual installments (depending on the student’s credit load and method of instruction (in-person or virtual)) over the term of the student’s academic enrollment at the University, provided the recipient remains academically eligible and complies with all scholarship rules. The scholarships will be presented at Univision studios in a closing event in or around April of 2026.
To receive one of the two scholarship awards, valued at approximately Thirty-nine thousand dollars ($39,000) each, scholarship recipient:
1) and their parent/legal guardian if the student is a minor, must sign releases and any other document requested by Univision and/or scholarship sponsors.
2) must participate in Univision’s preparation of a biographical piece on the scholarship recipient and/or attend the closing event requested by Univision that may be used to promote this scholarship, Univision and/or the scholarship sponsors.
3) must submit to Univision evidence of application to a University of Houston-Downtown.
4) Must be admitted and enrolled in the University of Houston Downtown for the academic year 2026-2027 beginning in the fall of 2026. In addition, failure to submit any documents or participate as requested in this section, will be interpreted as though the scholarship recipient has forfeited his/her right to receive the award and the recipient will not receive the award.
5) The winner/scholarship recipient will have until August 3, 2026 to submit proof of acceptance to University and to complete any documentation requested in order to claim the scholarship. Failure to do so may/will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
Student must meet Texas residency requirements for in-state tuition to receive the tuition scholarship, which ensures full tuition and fees, funding for eight semesters of full-time undergraduate study. The scholarship does not cover tuition & fees for summer and winter sessions. The total of the scholarship is based on tuition charges remaining after application of financial aid and other scholarships, including federal, state and local scholarships and grants, with a cap of $39,000 over the term of the student’s academic enrollment at the University. Scholarship winners are not permitted to substitute prizes for their cash equivalent, and no transfers or assignments will be allowed.
Miscellaneous:
All scholarship packages and materials will become the property of Univision and will not be returned. Univision will not be responsible for lost, stolen or misdirected entries. Mechanically reproduced, illegible, incomplete or inaccurate entries are void. Only one entry per person is permitted. Univision and the sponsor’s decisions regarding this scholarship and the scholarship recipients will be final and binding in all respects. Univision reserves the right to terminate this scholarship if fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond its reasonable control impairs the integrity of the scholarship. If it is determined that a person selected as the scholarship recipient is deemed ineligible or does not submit the requisite documents in a prompt manner or participate as requested by Univision, it will be deemed as though said person has forfeited the scholarship and Univision may, in its sole discretion, select another scholarship recipient. In its sole discretion, Univision may disqualify any person whom it considers to have intentionally violated any element of this scholarship. All taxes (federal, state, and local) are the sole responsibility of the scholarship recipients, who may be required to complete tax forms. Scholarship recipients agree that Univision may conduct the necessary withholding under law. By participating, entrants agree: (a) to be bound by the decisions of Univision and the sponsors, including but not limited to the decisions regarding the scholarship recipients, and (b) to release and hold harmless Univision and the sponsors, and their respective parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, directors, officers, employees, and agents, from any and all liability with respect to acceptance, possession or use (or misuse) of the scholarship or participation in the scholarship.

REGLAS DE LA BECA TU FUTURO
Beca 2026 – 2030
Propósito: Univision Contigo Houston y la Universidad de Houston-Downtown (la "Universidad") presentan la beca "Tu Futuro" para motivar a jóvenes latinos del área de Houston a continuar con estudios universitarios.
Elegibilidad: La beca está dirigida a estudiantes de preparatoria que cumplan con todos los siguientes requisitos:

Residir en el área metropolitana de Houston (DMA) y condados vecinos donde se reciba la señal de Univision, y ser ciudadanos legales de EE. UU.

Estar inscrito en el 12.º grado con los créditos suficientes para graduarse en la primavera de 2026.

Tener una reputación intachable y estar en buen estado académico y disciplinario en la escuela y su comunidad.

Comunicarse en inglés (se alienta el bilingüe: inglés/español).

Tener un promedio general acumulado (GPA) de 2.5 o más en escala de 4.0.

Cumplir con los requisitos de admisión de la Universidad (UHD).

Solicitar admisión a la Universidad (UHD) mediante la plataforma ApplyTexas.

Enviar una FAFSA completada (o TASFA, si aplica) para el año académico correspondiente. La beca se combinará con ayudas estatales y federales elegibles.

No ser empleado ni familiar directo ni conviviente de empleados de: (a) Univision, su empresa matriz o afiliadas; (b) patrocinadores participantes o sus afiliadas; (c) personas involucradas en la producción o selección de ganadores para esta beca.
Cómo Postularse: El estudiante debe enviar un paquete completo de solicitud mediante la página oficial de la beca, que incluya:

Solicitud de beca completa y legible.

Copia de estas reglas firmada por el estudiante y su padre/madre/tutor legal (si el estudiante es menor de edad).

Una (1) fotografía del estudiante.

Respuestas a las preguntas incluidas en el formulario de solicitud.

Ensayo de 500 palabras sobre: "Cómo una beca universitaria me ayudará a impactar positivamente mi comunidad". Debe estar a doble espacio.

Solicitar admisión a UHD mediante ApplyTexas.org.
Período de Aplicación: Las solicitudes pueden enviarse del 17 de noviembre de 2025 al 27 de febrero de 2026.
Selección: En marzo de 2026, la Universidad revisará todas las solicitudes completas recibidas. Los ganadores serán seleccionados alrededor de mediados de abril. Si hay suficientes solicitudes elegibles, Univision, la Universidad y los patrocinadores seleccionarán a dos (2) estudiantes ganadores. Los ganadores podrán ser notificados mediante la información proporcionada en su solicitud. Las decisiones serán finales e inapelables.
Premio: Se otorgarán dos (2) becas de cuatro (4) años valoradas en aproximadamente $39,000 cada una, distribuidas en pagos anuales durante la carrera del estudiante en la Universidad, dependiendo de la carga de créditos y modalidad (presencial o virtual), siempre que el estudiante mantenga la elegibilidad académica y cumpla con estas reglas. Las becas se entregarán en un evento de cierre en Univision en abril de 2026.
Para recibir la beca:
-
El estudiante y su padre/madre o tutor legal (si es menor de edad) deberán firmar autorizaciones y cualquier documento adicional requerido por Univision o los patrocinadores.

El estudiante deberá participar en la preparación de una biografía o historia en video y/o asistir al evento de cierre en Univision que podrá ser utilizado para promover la beca.

Deberá entregar evidencia de haber solicitado admisión a la UHD.

Deberá ser admitido e inscrito en UHD para el año académico 2026-2027 (inicio en otoño 2026). No cumplir con los requisitos puede resultar en la cancelación de la beca.

Tendrá hasta el 3 de agosto de 2026 para presentar prueba de aceptación e inscripción y completar cualquier documento requerido. No hacerlo podrá resultar en la pérdida de la beca.
El estudiante debe cumplir con los requisitos de residencia en Texas para obtener la beca que cubre matrícula y cuotas durante ocho (8) semestres regulares (no incluye veranos o sesiones de invierno). El total otorgado dependerá de lo que reste por pagar tras aplicar otras becas o ayudas, hasta un límite de $39,000. No se permite sustituir el premio por efectivo ni transferirlo a otra persona.
Misceláneo:
Todos los materiales enviados pasarán a ser propiedad de Univision y no se devolverán. Univision no se hace responsable por solicitudes perdidas, robadas o enviadas incorrectamente. Las entradas ilegibles, incompletas o con errores serán consideradas nulas. Sólo se permite una solicitud por persona. Las decisiones de Univision y los patrocinadores serán finales. Univision podrá cancelar la beca si ocurren fraudes, fallas técnicas u otros factores que afecten su integridad. Si un estudiante seleccionado no entrega los documentos a tiempo o no participa como se solicita, se considerará que renuncia a la beca y podrá seleccionarse a otro estudiante. Todos los impuestos federales, estatales y locales serán responsabilidad del becario. Al participar, los solicitantes aceptan quedar vinculados por estas reglas y liberar a Univision, los patrocinadores y sus afiliados de cualquier responsabilidad relacionada con la beca o el uso de la misma.
